Faith as Our Foundation In Him by Shalene Kearney

Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents, and the floodwaters rise and winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it was built on bedrock. Matthew 7:24 (NLT)

While on vacation from the heat and crowds this weekend, my husband and five year old daughter built a house out of cardboard. They built it on solid rock, but somehow, I don’t think it will stand the test of time. However, for those of us that make Jesus our foundation, our house is our faith, and it will not falter. Our lives become the house that everyone wants to visit, because they sense something wonderful is inside.

Have you built your house on the solid foundation of the Lord? If not, are you willing to get into the Word and replace that faulty foundation? I am learning more and more everyday just being in the Word. I was not a faithful reader of my bible before I began writing these posts. And when I did read my bible, I didn’t always apply it. I was like the foolish person. I built my house without a foundation. I had faith, but it was never going to be enough to stand the test of time, because I didn’t know how to obey Jesus’ teaching. How could I without understanding what His teachings were? And how does a person find out what Jesus taught? By reading His Holy Word.

Take the time today to be with the Lord, reading His Holy Word, learning how to obey his teachings. Don’t allow the deceiver to tell you that the Bible is boring or that it doesn’t apply to your life. If you just take the time to pray and really read and ask God to show you what He wants you to know, you will understand, and it will become enjoyable. I have gotten to the point that I become almost depressed when I don’t have my allotted daily time in His Word. In fact, I don’t allow a day to go by that I don’t spend some time in His Word, I just don’t always get the full hour or more, that I want. My hope is that you too, will find that time in the Word is time well spent.

---Lord, today I pray that you continue to give me time to just be with you Lord. Help me to continue to build my foundation in You. Because without the solid foundation that You are, my house will fall and be knocked about by every little wind. I know You want my faith to be strong, Lord, and so do I. Lord, I also pray that you do the same for anyone reading these Words. That those who truly seek You, will find You. I pray this in Jesus Holy Name. Amen

  1. Oh my! Those pictures are sooo adorable! You are truly blessed, woman!! :)

All picture admiration aside, I have to say when I used to go to scripture it was so lifeless to me. I remember thinking, I'll do this some other time when my mind's more into it. It wasn't until I started bringing the Lord into the scripture with me that it began to come alive for me. It wasn't my mind that wasn't into it, it was my soul and my heart. Once I got everything prioritized, it all started to make sense.
