Strange Things Are Happening by Shalene

Pregnancy doesn't just wreak havoc with your body and your hormones, but it also plays funny games with your mind. Anyone that has been there knows this to be true. You have the strangest dreams, and while you're awake, you seem to lose all coherent thought for most of the day. This is showing itself to be true for me already. I fell asleep last night composing a post and/ or article for me to place in the Women's Ministry newsletter for my church (and I seem to recall that it was a good one), but I didn't write it down- trusting that I would remember what I wanted to write in the morning. That didn't happen. Instead, the only 2 thoughts in my head when I woke up were: Focus on the Positive (a song but I can't remember the name of the singer I'm thinking of) and the Scarlet Pimpernel. Don't ask me how they are related, because I REALLY don't know.

I'm laughing as I type this, because it is just SO strange! It has been forever since I watched the Scarlet Pimpernel- probably about the time it came on TV in 1983 I think, and so really don't remember much about it, except "They seek him here- they seek him there......" that is the little diddy they say throughout the movie about this French Revolutionary. What could this mean? I even did a search of the music that was part of this play and movie, and thought maybe the song was part of it, but I could find nothing related. The only thing I could find (totally unrelated, of course) was this song. However, maybe there is some strange way they are related. This song is a love song for two of the main characters, but it could also be changed to how we feel about God. And also, the way we all "seek HIM here, and seek HIM there." Just a thought from a warped pregnancy hormone induced brain. Please do let me know if this makes sense to anyone else.

  1. Dear Readers: One other thing, when I first woke up, I was thinking the name of the movie was Scarlet Pumpernickel! LOL! I even wrote it down like that to come back and think about it later. I'm not even going to think about what that might have meant. LOL!

  2. And the name of the person that sings this song (and this may not be the exact title) is Whitacker I think. For some reason that's stuck in my brain. He sings like folk song time ballads. He also had a song about men going to sea, I think (at least on the CD that had this song on it.) But who knows. If you can help me out with this, I would really appreciate it, as it's going to drive me bonkers until I figure it out.

  3. Hey there! I'm back visiting your blog again - sorry, it's been a while. :) Scarlet Pimpernel is one of my all-time favourite books. Can't say much for the movie though. One thing I get out of the book though is how we can have no idea of another's love for us - imagine how much we underestimate God's at times!! Happy pregnancy - are you into eating dirt or anything funky like that?

I can't wait to be like you!

  5. Shalene,

It's been a very long time since I was pregnant. I barely remember it.

    Your story is funny however.

I wish you a wonderful pregnancy.

  6. Shalene - I had the same problem during my pregnancies... It was like I only had limited access to long term memory and my short term memory was sort of in and out. You have my sympathy : )

Love 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' - It's a great movie and the book is even better (they always are).

  7. I'm not pregnant, and my kids are teenagers now- and I still have weird dreams that make me go on a wild goose chase till I can figure out what they mean! But I don't think Joseph of the Old Testament understood his dream at first, either!

  8. Yes, I woke up with a memory of the last thing I was dreaming of and it was people turning into lizards/ snakes like in that TV show from the 80's
"Z" about the aliens that looked like lizards? Only in my dream they weren't evil in any way at all. I don't know what the deal is. (The only thing I can think of is some sort of warning that the deciever doesn't always come in the form of obvious evil.) I sure wish I had a Daniel to tell me what my dreams meant. Though, maybe I don't, because Daniel told of disaster to the King. So maybe I'll just stay blissfully unaware as to the full extent of my dreams. God will give me the clues as I need them, if indeed they mean anything. :) They could just be hormones. :) Thanks for all the understanding friends. :)
