The Secret Behind "The Secret" by Shalene

For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ [as] coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. 2 John 1:7 NKJV

Let me say first of all, that I have not read this book, nor do I plan to. I make a point of guarding my heart against such things, and just want to share the knowledge I have about this serious danger to Christ-like living. That's right "The Secret" is nothing but another of the deceiver's lies meant to tempt you by his half-truths. The "law of attraction" is not how God works. Read this excerpt from ChristianityToday.com:

The Secret, you see, is all about the self—it's for the self, obsessed with the self. Newsweek offers this critique: "On an ethical level, The Secret appears deplorable. It concerns itself almost entirely with a narrow range of middle-class concerns—houses, cars, and vacations, followed by health and relationships, with the rest of humanity a very distant sixth."

Since when does humanity come in sixth in the Christian's life??!! The Secret states that what ever you think about you will attract. What nonsense! The thing that gets me, is that this applies to good and bad. If you get into a car accident, you have attracted that. If you are obese, you have attracted that. If you are depressed or have cancer you have attracted that with your thoughts. The Secret would have us believing that everything good or bad that we focus on will be ours.

What The Secret reveals is that so many people are so desperately unhappy that they will snatch up anything offering hope—or simply offering quick and easy wealth. My question is, who will be there to pick up the pieces when they discover that they bought into a lie? And who will help the people who believe that they brought every misfortune on themselves because they sent negative thoughts and feelings out into the universe like a human radio transmitter?

How different from the message of Jesus: The first will be last, and the last will be first. Lose your life, and you will find it. ---ChristianityToday.com

This post was inspired by the fact, that so many Christians think that "The Secret" is a Christian book. That is just not the case. For one, there is no God in "The Secret" there is "the Universe"; and according to The Secret it wants to give us whatever we desire. That sounds awfully close to Satan's temptings to me. Not God's Truth. So to end I just want to say: No matter what Oprah says, or anyone else tries to tell you, this book is not a good book. It certainly is not on par with the Good Book.
