Though most of my readers are already believers, I need to be ready always for anyone that might come seeking Him. I need to be ready for that one person that says, what do I do? How do I gain that salvation? For that one person, here is your answer. Please keep in mind, that there is nothing you need to do to make yourself ready to do this. You do not need to get your life together, you don't need to straighten up this or that aspect of your life. You do not need to make yourself worthy in any way. It can't be done. All you need to do is accept this FREE gift.
1. First you must acknowledge that Jesus Christ is God and that he came to earth as a man to save us from our sins, by living the sinless life we could not live. We must acknowledge that he died in our place so that we would not have to pay the penalty we deserve.
2. You must acknowledge your past life as sin. Living for yourself, and not obeying God.
3. Admit that you are ready to trust Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.
4. Ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart and take up residence there, and begin living through you.
So, in essence you are doing the following: Having Faith that God exists and that His Word is true; Confessing your sin, Professing Christ as Savior and Lord, and praying to God. Here is a prayer that you can pray right now. The power is not in the words that you say, but in the faith behind them. You will be saved and be ensured your salvation, regardless of whether you "feel" any different right after or not.
"Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
If you have said this prayer, we believe you to be saved. Congratulations on your new life! Welcome, my new sibling in Christ. Please do come back often and read more about what it means to be a Christ follower. Get into a good bible based church (even if it's just a group of believers meeting together- that constitutes a church as well.) Read your bible regularly, and you will grow. May the peace of the Lord be upon you, and may you have the manifold blessings of the Lord in your life.
