Robyn at Overflowing Grace posted the other day about her daily schedule and asked that other SAHMs let her know what their schedule was like. My first response was "Schedule?? What's that??" Then I realized that I do have a schedule. It's just not the same every day. So here is my "schedule" just for her. :)

9:00 bedtime with prayers for oldest daughter
9:00-10:30 pm time with hubby listening to bibilical messages, or talking about day, or both.
10:30 pm shower and bedtime
My schedule for Tuesday varies in that I have a bible study from 9:00 to 11:30 so everything else that usually happens in that time frame gets moved to later. Hubby also has bible study in the evenings so I get to be single mom on that night.
For Wednesday, it's early release day at the elementary school, so Kindergartener gets picked up at 11:15 am. I prepare snacks and room for a small group that meets in my home from 12:00 to 1:30. In the evenings, I have choir practice, and my eldest daughter has High School midweek so dinner must be done earlier.
On most Fridays, our day is as stated above, unless I am in a drama at church. If I do, then I am there from 6:00 to 8:00 in which case hubby does dinner and bath duty. Saturdays, hubby serves as parking attendant at church, so the day is free until 5:00, unless the New Day choir (which I'm in) is on that week, then I have to be at the church by 4:30. On Sundays, our day is full of church related activities. Serving in Children's Ministry for hubby and eldest daughter. Serving in choir, or drams, or Women's Ministry leadership, or Growth Group meetings for me. If we have a Sunday open in which one or both of us is not serving then we spend the day getting caught up in any bible studies we didn't finish during the week, or do something as a family.
Oh, and right here is where I admit that I am addicted to my computer, the blogosphere and all my blogging buddies' blogs, and that I will take any free minute to blog some more, or read their blogs. :)
Unfortunately for my family, we're such a large family that there isn't alot of room for surprises. But then again, maybe I'm just not very organized. I try, but being organized is too much work. :) In the words of Beth Moore, I am an ADD housekeeper. (She said that about herself, but I agree about myself.)

Shalene,
ReplyDeleteDon't you know that idle time is the devil's workshop! You really should think about finding some productive activities to fill some of that down time. I mean, really!
Michael,
ReplyDeleteFDLOL!!! Too funny! I look over my day, and I am amazed that I'm able to stay awake as long as I do. :) It's a good thing I don't suffer from insomnia so much anymore, or I'd be a wreck, don't you agree? Blessings to you!
Oh yeah, and a few more additions: I am helping my best friend plan her wedding in two weeks, and I'm doing it long distance. Doing the duty of bridesmaid, when I'm actually the minister! Also, add in trying to start up a Good News club on Wednesday afternoons for the elementary school, and I'm one busy lady!!! :) But I wouldn't have it any other way.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting Shalene! Its fun to get a peek into other's lives. Some days sure feel like a marathon, don't they?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I made the Caramel Apple Pork Chops tonight. They turned out great! My only advice is to double or tripe the sauce (butter, brown sugar & spices). Otherwise there is not enough sauce. Hehe, not sure if a comment is the place to talk about cooking but I'm doing it anyway!!
Have a great week, friend!!
I didn't know you ever suffered from insomnia. But thank God you don't have to live like that anymore!
ReplyDeleteIn all seriousness, I was absolutely amazed at all you do in one day. You are the energizer woman. That list just kept going, and going, and going.
Mine is easy:
Wake
Pray
Wash
Dress
Drive
Work
Eat
Read
Pray
Sleep
Repeat
Wow. Now I feel like an underachiever!
Robyn, everyday feels like a marathon!!! Are you kidding??!! :) And comments are the perfect place to talk about cooking. Thanks for the heads up! I plan to make them Thursday. Wednesdays are too busy to make something that detailed (even if it did seem relatively easy).
ReplyDeleteMichael, you are certainly not an underachiever! I just have 4 children living with me. If I didn't, I would certainly be doing the same thing you do. Don't think me something better than I am. I just do everything I do, because I have to, to train up my children in the way they should go.
Atta girl!
ReplyDeleteHey, Proverbs 32, I have read one of your blogs in the past about women being preachers and teachers of the Word. If you recal I mentioned that after Jesus's resurrection the angels spoke to the "women" that were present and told them to go announce to the disciples that Jesus had risen from the dead, and that if that ain't preachin', what is? Remember?
Well, as I was recalling what a Proverbs 31 woman really is I was brought back to verse 1 which you may find interesting.
Proverbs 31:1
The words od King Lemuel, the utterance which his "mother" taught him!
The entire book of Proverbs 31 was taugh to him "by his mother"
Go mamma!
Michael, Yes I remember that. And yes, it is apt! Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Shalene. It is great fun to peak into one another's lives!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Elisa
