Seven Weird Facts About Me

Ok, well I haven't been officially tagged, but in the spirit of sharing about myself (which you all know I love to do) I am sharing Seven Weird Facts About Myself. Now before I list them, you will notice that the first four point to the fact that I am surely blessed to be alive. Just a little heads up. Have fun reading about what a "freak" I am.

1. When I was born, the doctor pronounced me stillborn, because I would not take my first breath by crying. The nurse saved me though, by sticking a needle into my foot! That is when I screamed out for the first time, and lived to tell about the other weird facts about myself.

2. I hate hospitals! I spent a large portion of my childhood years in them (as you will see in a moment) for one reason or another; and to this day going into one makes me nauseus. I used to vomit when I entered one, regardless of the reason I was there. Thankfully, I have gotten past the actually doing it part.

3. I have had stitches 5 times. Once when I was a year old, and almost bit my tongue completely off. Once when I was 8, and stepped on a large piece of glass buried under sand at the lake. And 3 times related to the birth of three of my children.

4. I have broken and/ or seriously injured most of the bones in my body.
  • My right arm 3 separate times before I was 9.
  • My tailbone 3 separate times. Once at age 12, doing gymnastic type stunts on the bars at school. Once at age 14, sliding down the banister of concrete steps, and slipping off the step when I got off. And once at age 26, rollerblading at the coast.
  • My left collar bone in a car accident when I was 22.
  • All of my toes at various times, either by kicking something (not always accidentally) or by dropping heavy things on them.
  • Damaged my neck and back in a series of car accidents in a matter of a couple years (none were my fault, thank you very much.)

5. I have a heart shaped scar on my right cheek, right next to my mouth, as a result of a burn I received as an infant.

6. I can wiggle my ears.

7. I can use my feet and toes for many of the same things I use my hands for. They work almost as well, for all of them.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about the weird facts about me. Yes, I am a freak, and proud of it. :) Surprisingly, you'd think I would have known much earlier that God had great things planned for me, if I would have looked back on my life, and thought about how often He had saved me from myself. :) Blessings to you!

There is no "MORE" to this post.

  1. Ha, I JUST tagged you for this on my blog! Oh well, here's a retroactive tag for ya!

  2. High five! I did the tongue chomping stunt too - 7 stitches from a face-plant on a bumper car steering wheel when I was 4 : P

#7 cracked me up! I have the same dubious talent. Comes in handy for picking things up when you're pregnant LOL! My husband likes to tease me about my prehensile toes. He doesn't use that word of course, that would be too "hoity toity" : )

Love the list and I so sympathize with all your hospital stuff! I narrowly escaped ER admit #20 this evening. My pneumonia took a turn for the worse. I'm all hopped up on prednisone and albuterol now... probably be up all night : P

  3. BusyDad, Cool! I felt a little bad, that I wasn't actually tagged, and did it anyway. Thanks for the tag! Too fun!

Michelle, you poor thing! I thought you got a shot for that? I hate albuterol! I have allergy related asthma too, so when it's allergy season (which is pretty much all year long, here) I have to carry my inhaler with me everywhere. And you want to know something really warped??? Taking my puffs off my inhaler causes me to want a cigarette the very next minute!!! How warped is that??? Probably because of the amped feeling you get afterwards. I can so relate!! Blessings to you, and I hope you feel better soon.

  4. Shalene you've had quite a life! I really liked number 7 because I am the same way!! That surely comes in handy during pregnancy, doesn't it? My husband was always amazed how I could clean things up off the floor and never bend over (because I couldn't). Its a true skill, indeed!! Thanks for sharing!!
